Secil is a doctoral candidate in Clinical Psychology in Adelphi University’s Derner Institute Ph.D. program. She holds Masters degrees in Psychology from New York University and in Political Science from Fordham University. Secil was born and raised in Turkey and holds a BA in International Relations from Bilkent University in Ankara. Secil’s academic interests include schizophrenia, severe mental disorders, self-stigma due to diagnosis of severe mental disorder. Her presentations include APCS 2011 Annual Conference: “A Bridge between Domestic Violence and Psychoanalysis: Is it Possible?” and “The Politics of Academia in a Field of Subjectivity and Traditions.” Secil is currently a psychology extern in Beth Israel Medical Center-Addictions Outpatient Unit.
